Mini Car

If you saw the 10 year old used Toyota Corolla I was driving last year at home, you may have noticed the little bumper sticker that came with the car.

“That’s Miss Princess To You”

It always gave me a giggle. I’m not quite sure what you all think of me, but I never much considered it my motto. When you buy used cars you don’t always get to pick everything...

In the midst of the crisis, someone was leaving and selling her car cheap...so I bought it. A very pink, very zippy, very cheap used car...

Good to have a daily giggle again.

Caged Nature

I was so excited when my landlady, Nina, told me they were going to improve my garden. During the time of the crisis, my landlord (Paulo) and lady unfortunately had little work to do. She had a small business that was destroyed and he is a police officer. As the police were ordered off the streets until the police force could be reorganized (we have international police now!), he had little to fill his day.

So, I was glad to see them find some activities and of course happy to have more green (and pink and yellow and white!) around my house! Day by day, more and more little plants were planted and each day I looked forward to see what pretty new tropical plants dotted the front yard.

Paulo had mentioned that he’d be buying some cement to line the edges with walkways. I suggested white stones (always go with permeable!) as it may be nicer. He kinda just smiled…I didn’t think I’d get the stones.

When I came home the next day, I found not only cement pathways bordering the entire area (not so offensive really) but also neat little cement boxes around each lovely little plant.

The plants are still beautiful, if not a little caged…
(P.S. The grass has filled in a little now!)






(Also, note the gate and lovely bottom half of the fence. And the lack of the top half. This was supposed to be installed before I moved in, in Sept 05. It's going up this week. Things get done here...eventually.)
