Why do you have a basketball under your dress?

I rarely go home for lunch, which means I rarely see the woman who cleans my house, Merry.

Merry
comes 6 days a week, but I’m usually up and out early on Saturdays as well. When I do see her, it is usually from afar as she goes over to my landlandy’s house and does a bit of work there to give me some space when I'm home. When I do see her up close, she’s usually wearing an apron.

All this explanation is a lame attempt at explaining how completely obtuse I am.

Last week I went home for lunch one day and Merry walked in. My eyes almost popped when I incredulously asked her “Merry, Are you Pregnant?!” Any idiot could see she was OF COURSE pregnant because she was VERY pregnant.

She giggled that yes, she was 7 months pregnant. Man, how could I be so oblivious?

But wait, it gets worse.

On Monday, Merry gave birth to a healthy baby girl…which means that A) I was not only oblivious for 7 months, I was oblivious for 9 months and B) she was also clearly oblivious for the first 2 months! (Have I mentioned people here don’t pay much attention to time?)
